Body Lotion is not just for winters

The problem for us living in India is that we leave the moisturizers for winters when our skin is dry and chapped. However, our skin requires daily hydration and moisturization! As without which it is bound to get dry, rough and even develop blemishes and spots.

The tropical heat and humidity actually make skin care slightly more challenging than in a place with a cooler, temperate environment. In the daily sweat and heat, another layer of greasy cream feels like a bad option. Therefore, always go for a lightweight formula in your lotion. Milk or any hydration based moisturizer applied just after a shower can make the world of difference in our skincare regime. Because the truth is, that while we take a lot of care of our faces, we take the rest of our body for granted.

Keep your body lotion handy

Every day we go out, it is just exposed to pollution, dust, and grime. If we don’t make the effort of moisturizing at least once a day, our skin will be irrevocably damaged. Therefore we definitely need daily moisturizing, but the lighter, non-sticky ones like-AYUVEDAM Skin Whitening Body Conditioner. Besides being a lightweight natural product, this conditioner has an added whitening cream to it. That means it evens out your blemishes and marks and hydrates your skin.

It is also understandable if you avoid lotions because you have oily skin. However, you too need daily moisturizers because while the oil traps moisture. As a result, your skin is still constantly losing hydration.

What is suggested is that you always go for lotions that are non-comedogenic ie. It does not clog your pores. Any oil based moisturizer is bound to make your skin break out in this humidity. However, a daily softening lotion will keep your skin sufficiently hydrated without making it oily. AYUVEDAM Body Radiance lotion, for instance, contains honey and milk- which will hydrate your skin from the inside. It leaves your skin naturally soft and glowing.

Another reason you should be using lotions daily is that of our lifestyles. Being constantly exposed to direct dry sunlight is bound to leave blemishes and tan on our skin. Also, because of the amount of time we spend in air-conditioned spaces-cabs, offices, malls etc- it makes our skin extremely dry. Without at least one daily, decent care product, we will lose the natural smoothness of our skin.

Don’t ignore your skin

We are so particular about our faces and caring for it that we often forget to pay equal attention to the rest of the parts our body. We apply sunscreens and blocks for our face, but our bodies end up getting unevenly tanned from regional exposure to the sunlight. A must-have for tropical, hot weathers is, therefore, a lightweight skin lotion! That should contain a sunblock of at least SPF 25.

Keep the moisturizer of your choice handy! Choose something which is hydrating and doesn’t smell too overpowering. As you will be applying it daily, try to go for natural rather than chemical based cosmetics! Choose Ayuvedam- which is made up of natural, healthy ingredients is recommended.

At the end of the day, caring for ourselves only takes a little time, but having healthy, radiant skin does wonders for our lifestyle and confidence.

Sun Block Talc

Using a sunscreen is highly recommended for the Indian tropical climate. The burning sun doesn’t just tan our face but also contains a serious possibility for skin diseases

The primary purpose of using a sunscreen is that it blocks the UV A & B rays of the sun. These radiations from the sun have been proven to cause skin cancer, which is why the Skin Cancer Foundation mandates that everyone should be applying sunscreen. It also works to prevent premature aging of your skin, wrinkles, blemishes, and spots.

Any sunscreen contains SPF- or sun protection Factor that blocks a certain percentage of UV rays. Living in India, the minimum amount of screening we need is 25 SPF, which blocks 95% of the UV rays, and 50 SPF is better for those who spend more time outside.

Yet every morning when we leave the house, we loathe applying a sticky cream or lotion to our faces. Any sunscreen lotion is bound to make your skin slightly oily. More importantly, within ten minutes of leaving the house, layers of dust and grime will have stuck to our faces.

Then there is the whole issue of applying make-up on top of sunscreen. Applying sunscreen and then foundation and primer makes the sunscreen ineffectual. And after doing our contours and carefully drawn highlights, applying a layer of sunscreen is just out of the question. So, what we end up doing is neglecting the tube of sunscreen till we get tan lines and spots.

Also, some make-up variants have chemicals that act as sunscreen agents, but they just aren’t enough in isolation. In the Indian climate, a sunscreen of at least 25 SPF is mandatory. So, we need sunscreen but there is no way we are ready to apply it to our make-up. Then what can we do?

Ayuvedam has launched a 25 SPF and a 50 SPF variant of powdered sunscreen named Sunblock Talc FUN with SUN, as a solution to this dilemma. A powdered sunscreen is a mineral based product that gives an even matt effect to your face. What makes it special is that it has special ingredients that help it block harmful UV A&B rays of the sun.

A powdered sunscreen is a perfect solution because when you apply a translucent powder on top of your make-up, your make-up has no chance to be spoilt. It even has an added matte effect to give your face a sleeker, classier look. Moreover, any powder has the propensity to soak up surface oils, leaving you with fewer chances of having a sticky, grimy look.

A powdered sunscreen, therefore, guarantees that in this terribly hot country, you will not sweat out your make up.

Secondly, while we can’t apply a sunscreen lotion too many times when we are outside, but the SPF is only active for 2 hours. A dab of the powder while touching up your make-up and you are ready to brave the sun every time.

Most importantly though, Ayuvedam skin care products are made from natural ingredients; this means you will not be adding more harmful chemicals to your skin in the name of skin-protection.

So you have protected, matte skin, but without the oily discomfort and ruined make-up. It doesn’t get any better.

The goodness of Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is sort of a wonder-plant. It is used for generations all over the world for a host of things-from curing heat burn to promoting healthier skin. Aloe Vera has also been a staple product in most Indian households. People use it to treat rashes, inflammations alongside consuming it for its high vitamin and mineral content.

Today, because of the rapid influx of chemical cosmetics, aloe vera is also gaining ground as a viable alternative to cosmetic face and skin care. You will be surprised at the number of uses one jar of aloe vera gel can provide. Besides, it is a preferred as a better alternative to harmful chemical cosmetics. Which is why, almost all natural skin care companies offer proper, processed aloe gels. Not only are they multipurpose, but they come relatively cheap in comparison to most skin care products.

When you are using a natural aloe gel, make sure to buy one that has at least a 50% aloe vera content. Ayuvedam has an Aloe magic Skin Refreshing and Conditioning Aloe Vera Gel that contains Aloe gel with a little tulsi extract to help give your skin the rejuvenation it needs.

Therefore here are 5 ways you can use an aloe vera gel on your face for better skin care:

  1. Anti Ageing Properties: Aloe Vera Gel contains antioxidants, beta-carotene, and vitamin A & E which nourishes the skin from within. As our skin ages, wrinkles and lines begin to appear because our dermis gets less elastic. A good way to reduce the brittleness is by using an Aloe vera Gel that will hydrate your skin. It makes your skin more firm, rejuvenates the cells and moisturizes your skin from deep inside.

  1. Moisturizer: If you have really oily skin that is prone to acne, aloe vera gel can be a regular go-to alternative for moisturizing. It has an immense hydrating property, at the same time, it contains no natural oils that will clog your pores or make your skin break out.

  1. Sunburn and Tan Remover– Aloe Vera Gel has a high amount of anti-oxidants that help in natural skin healing. If you refrigerate the aloe gel and apply it on your sunburns and tan lines regularly, over time they will begin to reduce, leaving your skin blemish free. Also, since Aloe Vera has a natural cooling property, it will give your skin instant relief.

  1. Acne and Blemish Reducer– Aloe Vera contains gibberellins and auxins which contain antibacterial properties. Acne is caused when your pores are blocked, leading to possible infections and localized swelling. Aloe reduces the infection and the inflammation. Also, polysaccharides that stimulate cell growth are present in aloe vera. As a consequence, it effectively prevents scar and blemishes on your skin. Applying aloe vera, therefore, is a better alternative than chemical anti-acne products that have a ton of negative side effects.

  1. Removing Eye Make-Up– A lesser known use of aloe vera is that it is an amazing way of removing make-up, especially from tender soft skin- like around your eyes. It is a good alternative to cosmetic cleansers and it also hydrates and soothes your skin.

Therefore, an aloe gel has too many good uses to neglect. It truly is a must-have in everyone’s skin care kit.

The flawless skin that you have always desired may look like a myth. A late night leads to ugly dark circles in the morning. Forgetting to wash our face wash may lead to accumulation of oil or acne on face. However, with the right care, you can get the glow that you have always dreamt of.  In our endless pursuit to get a clean and clear skin, we resort to every beauty tip possible.  Getting a flawless skin cannot happen overnight and calls for care on a daily basis. Here are some of the Do’s and Don’ts to get an ever radiant skin:

  • Sun and skin

Do: Apply a sunscreen every time you step outside the house. Sunscreen with SPF 25  is mandatory for Indian weather.  Extensive exposure to sun cause freckles, sun spots, wrinkles and other skin related woes.  Make sure to use a sunscreen that is “noncomedogenic” and does not clog the pores.

Don’t: forget to apply a sunscreen, whether it’s sunny or cloudy outside.  Whether you are heading to a beach or your office, lather your skin with a sunscreen of at least SPF 25.

  • Eat carefully

Do: Keep a note of what your plate looks like. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables and adequate protein and vitamin-rich foods. A diet rich in vitamin C gives radiance and glow to the skin.

Don’t: Eat spicy, preserved, fermented or fried foods.  Instead, choose rice, cereals or pulses.

  • Beauty sleep

Do: Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. If you do not sleep adequately, your skin gets as tired as your body.  Enough sleep prevents dark circles and baggy eyes.

Don’t: Forget to clean and moisturize your face before hitting the bed.  The ones with dry skin may use mild moisturizers that are free from alcohol.

  • The golden rule

Do:  Make sure to always remove makeup on your skin before going to sleep.  A thick layer of makeup prevents the skin from breathing.  It also leads to blemishes, blackheads, and pimples on the skin.  You can use some Olive Oil to naturally remove makeup and dirt from your skin.

Don’t: Forget to exfoliate. It is necessary to exfoliate at least twice every week to remove the layers of dead skin from the face.  You can use a mixture of yogurt and walnut powder to regularly exfoliate your skin.

  • Hydrate yourself

Do:  Remember to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.  Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Also, consume water-rich fruits like watermelon, cucumber, orange and strawberry to hydrate your body from within.

Don’t: Ignore rose water.  It helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles form eyes. Rose water helps to maintain the pH balance and naturally hydrates your skin.

  • Go back to your roots

Do: Use Natural cleansers and scrubs to take care of your skin.  Natural products are rich in the goodness of nature and help the skin to breathe better.

Don’t:  Neglect the basics. Calm and deep breathing in the morning harmonizes the body, mind, and emotions.

Apart from sticking to all these rules, do remember to smile! It is very important to express our inner joy and happiness to achieve a healthy looking radiant skin naturally.
